DEMAND THAT MAYOR GARCETTI FULFILL THE 1000 BLACK JOBS INITIATIVE

DECEMBER 11, 2020

BLACK. WORKERS. MATTER.

Systemic labor discrimination is destroying Black families. While many communities were negatively impacted by the mere onset of the coronavirus pandemic, more than 83% of Black workers in California have filed for unemployment since the pandemic began. In some LA communities, Black unemployment is triple that of white neighborhoods. If we can’t work, we can’t eat, keep a roof over our heads, or access healthcare to protect our families in the midst of this deadly pandemic. Black workers will no longer tolerate such blatant maltreatment and ask that you show up for Black life by demanding that Mayor Eric Garcetti fulfill the 1000 Black Jobs Initiative and put 1000 Black Angelenos to work.

Mayor Garcetti has heard the countless stories of anguish and anxiety that wake Black workers at 3 am, but his actions have not prioritized solutions to the crises we face. So Black workers are organizing to translate a denial of equity into sweeping accountability, and demand that Eric Garcetti do the right thing.

The denial of access to good jobs is killing us, but we have the power to create real change. Our capacity to unite shifts heartbreak to action, and hopelessness to brilliant solutions. So show up for Black workers by signing this petition today.

Mayor Garcetti- we are done being exploited and demand that you do the right thing.
